India picked up yet another medal in weightlifting at the ongoing Gold Coast Commonwealth games with Ragala Venkat Rahul handing India their fourth gold medal by lifting a total weight of 338kg in the men’s 85kg weightlifting event.

This is India’s sixth medal in weightlifting alone which is also India’s overall tally in the event so far. Rahul impressed with a successful lift of 147kg in his first snatch attempt and went on to lift 151kg in his third and final lift after failing to carry the same weight in the second.

He continued with his good work, lifting 182kg in his first clean and jerk attempt to jump to the top spot in the standings. His second lift of 187kg saw him accumulate a total weight of 338kg that remained his best as he faltered in the final attempt of 191kg. Luck also went in Rahul’s favour with silver medalist Don Opeloge of Samoa also failing to lift 191kg in his third and final attempt helping Rahul clinch the gold.
