The world’s second largest Banyan tree in Telangana’s Mahabubnagar district, which is 700-years-old, is on saline drip now as part of rejuvenation of the tree.

The tree which is almost dying is being given treatment by injecting a diluted chemical to kill termite population that infested the tree.

Forest officials are infusing the chemical solution drop by drop using saline bottles similar to a saline drip given to patients in the hospital.

According to reports, the site has been closed for tourists until the tree’s condition is stable.
