The Union Health Ministry has approved the setting up of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Tripura.
The ministry had earlier asked the state government to identify a 200 acre plot of land for the same.
Accordingly, the Tripura government has identified a 265-acre plot of land at Khairpur near Agartala for the project.
Visiting the proposed site, Chief Minister Biplob Deb today said that the government has found a feasible land and is all set to send a fresh proposal to the Centre.
Dev said the State government is hopeful that the Centre will give a nod for setting up the health institute, which is a long-felt need of the people of Tripura.
