Locals of Jonai in Assam’s Dhemaji district are reeling under apprehensions as the Siang river has once again turned murky leading to contamination of water in its constituent river Brahmaputra.

Expressing concern over the matter the locals have demanded that the matter should be probed into as the high turbidity in the waters has led to the death of cattles.

The contamination has also adversely affected the aquatic life. As a result, the waters have also become unfit for human consumption.
