The 24 hour ‘Chakka Bandh’ called by the All India Road Transport Workers’ Federation began from 5 am on Tuesday.

Roads in Guwahati were largely empty till noon, with all the government buses and vehicles being off the roads today as the motor organisations of Assam extended their support to the bandh.

The bandh has been called for amendment of laws related to vehicles in the country among other demands. The absence of public transport has affected the common people of the city.
