In the medical history of Arunachal Pradesh, surgeons at the Heema Hospital in Itanagar, successfully implanted a dual chamber cardiac pacemaker on a patient from West Siang district of the state.

CMD of the hospital Dr Byabang Rana informed that the surgery took around one and half hours to complete. He also informed that the hospital has been preparing for the operation for a month.

While surgery implanting a single chamber cardiac pacemaker has already been conducted earlier at the RK Mission hospital, this was the first time in the state that a double chamber cardiac pacemaker has been implanted on a patient.
