An abducted trader from West Garo Hills in Meghalaya has returned home after spending over three months in Bangladesh.

The trader, 66-year-old Phalgun Arengh, was abducted on May 24 and taken to Bangladesh.

He, however, managed to escape from the clutches of his kidnappers on June 2 and has since then been in custody of Sherpur police in Bangladesh.

Arengh’s family has been running from pillar to post to seek his release. The kidnappers had sought a ransom of Rs 50 lakh to 1 Crore to release Arengh.

The trader finally returned home after the Bangladesh Border Guards handed him over to the Meghalaya police last evening.
